Who We Are

Our Mission

Island Lake Rowing Club is an inclusive volunteer organization that inspires health and fitness while building community through the sport of rowing. We welcome experienced and aspiring rowers of all ages and abilities from Orangeville and surrounding areas.

Our History

Island Lake Rowing Club was established in 1998 by a group of volunteers with a passion for the sport of rowing, exercise, and fun. All aspects of the club are still run by hard-working, dedicated volunteers. Members of all ages and abilities pitch in to ensure we have a smooth rowing season, from sitting as members of the board, to coaching our wide variety of programs, from driving the boat trailer to regattas, to maintaining our fleet and boathouse, and of course raising funds to support all club initiatives. We recognize the gifts and skills of our community and acknowledge the hard work and dedicated hours of volunteerism.

All club activities are overseen by our executive and board of directors who are nominated for a two year term at the Annual General Meeting in April of each year. For more information about how our club is run, please check out our constitution and by-laws.

The Boathouse

ILRC has a large boathouse able to accommodate our fleet of over 30 rowing shells. We currently have a variety of boats from sleek racing single shells to eights, including more stable recreational boats that can be adapted for Para rowers. We also house a number of boats with small outboard motors that are used for coaching and safety and are essential to a number of our programs. The Link at the boathouse is home to our ergometers which are used for training and to demonstrate proper technique. It is also a space that can be used for meetings and club social gatherings.

Our boathouse and dock are fully accessible to provide access to all members of the rowing community.

We also offer storage (for a fee) of private rowing shells for our members. Contact us for details.
