Island Lake prides itself in having something for everyone. We have racing singles and rec boats, doubles, pairs, fours; both coxed and straight, quads (including a coxed quad) and eights. We also have programs suited to many needs. This year we would like to float a couple of new program ideas (pun intended!).

Return to Row

While our Learn to Row program has been highly successful and each year we see confident new rowers on the water, we would like to offer a next step, a confidence booster for our most recent new rowers. Return to Row offers 2 coached sessions in the early season that will give new rowers a refresher. A quick reorientation to the boathouse, safety procedures, and boat handling on land. On the water, participants will have the option of singles or bigger boats with a coach by their side helping to bring back that muscle memory both physical and mental to build confidence and get the boat moving. This program includes a full season membership following the 2 coached sessions.

Crew Camp

Our kids summer rowing camp has also been very successful with many parents in the past registering their children for a second week. In order to give more youth the opportunity to try rowing in a fun, week long camp experience, we are expanding the offering from 2 weeks to 6 sessions throughout July and August. Re-named and revamped, with an emphasis on fun while building skills and observing all safety procedures we hope Crew Camp will be able to offer more young people the experience of making a boat move across the water. (All sessions are subject to a minimum number of registrations.)
