Welcome to Learn–to–row (LTR) 2012! Rowing is a wonderful sport! Great exercise and lots of fun while enjoying the great outdoors.
We will run two LTR sessions in 2012. One will be a weekend camp on June 23rd & 24th: Saturday from 8 – 4 and Sunday from 8 – noon. Each participant is taught the basics of rowing and then given time on the water to try to master the stroke. It will be a fun, comprehensive weekend!
The second LTR option is Tuesday and Thursday mornings 6am or evenings 6pm, a minimum of 6 sessions beginning June 12th. This program is based on a 6 session LTR format requiring 1 – 1 ½ hours twice a week. Each participant is taught the basics of rowing and then given time on the water to try to master the stroke.
A breakdown of the program is as follows:
Intro to Rowing – Students will meet the coaches and go over all aspects of the rowing stroke. They will become familiar with the equipment and the rowing terminology, which is a language all its own. Safety guidelines will be reviewed for on and off the water. Everyone will have a chance to get into a boat and give the stroke a try. A tiny tip: it’s not nearly as easy as it looks on the Olympics.
Next – On the Water! – Students venture out on the water to perfect their rowing skills. All on-water sessions will be dependent on weather. We’ll pray for good weather for the weekend camp! For the July sessions, we have allowed an extra week for lessons to assure that we complete six full sessions.
Great exercise, fun people and beautiful sunrises or sunsets! Please let us know your preference of either the weekend camp or weekdays in July so that we can arrange for the appropriate number of coaches. Your pick! We are looking forward to a great season! Hope you can join us!
Once you have completed the LTR program you are welcome to join the club as a full member and come out and row whenever the club is open. You can apply 100% of your LTR fees towards a full membership! The top up fee is only $140, assming your learn to ro fees have been paid in full.
