Young Competitive Program
This year Island Lake Rowing club will have a program for young rowers who wish to compete in Junior A and B and Under 23 races. The goal of the program is to provide an opportunity for young rowers to further develop their rowing skills and experience and to continue rowing competition outside of the university and high school seasons.
This is not a learn to row program. Rowers must have a base of some previous competitive rowing.
Rowing will be mainly in singles doubles and pairs. Training programs will be designed to fit with rowers targeted races for the summer. Races will be probably include the CORAs and the Henley. The coaching program will be twice weekly with the addition of a few clinics by visiting coaches plus self coaching with videos. The club coaches will be Jen Meeker and Ralph Manktelow.
There is also an opportunity for young rowers who wish to row this summer but do not want to compete. Due to finite coaching resources there will be limited coaching available for non competitive rowers.
