ILRC Open House for persons with a physical disability

ILRC will host an Open House to provide information about its’ rowing program for persons with a physical disabilty. This program may appeal to persons with a lower limb amputation(s), lower limb paralysis, visual impairment or other disability. The Open House will be at the Rowing Club on Hurontario St, one km. south of the 5th side road Mono – between 11:00am and noon on Saturday June 25th. If you have ever thought that you would like to row a rowing shell come and find out what is involved.

A Brief History

Island Lake Rowing Club, based on Island Lake in Orangeville, was founded in 1998 by a group of volunteers who were interested in the athletic and community aspects of rowing.

All club programs and fund-raising activities are run by volunteers from the club’s membership roster. Members of all ages and abilities have pitched in to build our facility, to improve access to the rowing compound and dock so that all members of the Orangeville community, even those with significant disabilities and mobility issues, can participate. Our compound and dock now are fully accessible and we have a brand-new boat house big enough to provide shelter for all boats, from singles to eights.
