Learn to Row
Welcome to the third Learn–to–row (LTR) session of 2008. Rowing is a wonderful sport! Great exercise and lots of fun while enjoying the great outdoors.
We will run the sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 4 weeks beginning on August 5th. You can choose from either 6 a.m. or 6 p.m., whichever time suits your schedule best. Please let us know what your preference is so that we can arrange for the appropriate number of coaches.
This program is based on a 6 session LTR format requiring 1 - 1 ½ hours twice a week for 3-4 weeks. Each participant is taught the basics of rowing and then given time on the water to try to master the stroke.
A breakdown of the program is as follows:
SESSION 1 Intro to Rowing – Students will meet the coaches and go over all aspects of the rowing stroke. They will become familiar with the equipment and the rowing terminology, which is a language all its own. Safety guidelines will be reviewed for on and off the water. Everyone will have a chance to get into a boat and give the stroke a try. A tiny tip: it’s not nearly as easy as it looks on the Olympics.
SESSION 2 - 6 On the Water – Students venture out on the water to perfect their rowing skills. All on-water sessions will be dependent on weather. Coaches will make the final decision. We have allowed an extra week for lessons to assure that we complete six full sessions.
We hope you join us! Great exercise, fun people and beautiful sunrises or sunsets! Your pick! Once you have completed the LTR program you are welcome to join the club as a full member and come out and row whenever the club is open. The top up fee is an additional $150 above and beyond the initial LTR price of $160.
Note: A coach boat is the on water for all LTR sessions.
