Boat House Closing!

Saturday, November 12th

at 8 a.m.

(7 a.m. for those who would like to sneak in one last row! …. weather permitting!)

Closing day! Nov. 12th 8-11. Lend a hand, pop over for coffee & a visit. Pick-up your LTR t-shirt of you didn’t get yours.

The 2011 season is quickly coming to an end and we need help putting all those new and not so new boats away for the winter. Please come out and assist with the tasks at hand … de-rig where necessary, help with the dock, wash boats, bring outside oars indoors, etc.

Many hands make light work! Hope to see you there!

Entries due for Welland and Trent Head races

Entries are due by Sept 16th for the Head of the Trent Regatta and Sept 19th for Head of the Welland 5 Bridges Classic.
If you are planning to enter a boat, please inform Cathy as soon as possible so she can get your entry in.
Some entries are by lottery or first come basis so don’t delay!

New Coaching hours – Competitive and Non-Competitive

Update – Fall competitive and non-competitive hours have changed – Coaching this week is available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 5-7 pm.

Starting September 13th, evening coaching will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays and will be focused on head race preparation.

You may also row/practice during other rowing hours but must row with another boat.

It’s Here!!! Our New 2nd Dock!!

Thanks to Shane and his tireless searching we were able to locate a 4WD Crane that could work in these wet conditions and our new dock is now in place and Functional!

This dock will make such a huge change, especially to our high traffic high school rowing program. Crews will now be able to get on and off the water in 1/2 the time allowing for more rowing (and training) time each morning.

Thanks so much to everyone who was able to help today to get the dock safely in place! We will post some more pictures soon showing the dock installation process.

Congrats to our Newest ‘Learn to Row’ Graduates!

Wow! What glorious weather for a learn to row weekend and what a great effort by all our new Rowers!

It’s always amazing for us coaches to see the progress from the first tentative steps on a wavy dock to to jumping in, adjusting foot-stops and backing out onto the water.

We hope to see you all back for summer rowing – and to help you get oriented to the club and meeting other members we have set up the next few Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 am and 6 pm for Learn to Row graduates.

Come out and we will help you into boats with your new rowing friends or current Club members. You will find it a friendly low-pressure environment where you can progress with your rowing skills at the pace you choose. We then hope you will choose to join us for the rest of the season if you haven’t already!

See you on the water!

Summer Youth Program -This coming Monday June 27th 4:00 6:00 pm. We will have an organizational meeting and coaching session

This coming Monday June 27th 4:00 6:00 pm will be the first day for the summer youth program FOR BOTH COMPETITIVE AND NON COMPETITIVE

On Monday we will first discuss the program and answer questions. Then we will go on the water. We will start promptly at 4:00 pm.

The coaching program will include: 1) twice weekly coaching by our coaches, 2) one or more clinics by visiting coaches, 3) self coaching with videos. The club coaches will be Jen Meeker and Ralph Manktelow for Competitive and Ken Norris and Jack LeCrooy for Non Competitive.

The only difference between the two groups is that one group will race. For the Competitive program, we must provide insurance for you as a racer through Rowing Canada and the racing insurance is much more expensive than for non racers. This is the reason for the difference in rates between Competitive and non Competitive

Coaching will be Monday and Wednesday for Competitive and Tue and Thur for Non Competitive.
Rowers will have access to club boats at all other times that the club is open.
CLUB IS OPEN
Monday to Friday 6am -9am,
Monday – Thursday 5pm – 8pm
Saturday-Sunday 7am – 9am

on any day that you are rowing, use of a particular boat is at the discretion of the coaches or Kendra or Locke. Always check with one of us.
